My name is Jay Kirkus and I was the proud dad of greyhounds Virgil, Ellie, Louis and Madeleine. In their memory and to help other greyhounds in need, I am climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa on October 1. Please help me raise $19,340 – one dollar for every foot of the mountain – to support GREY2K’s growing campaigns to save the 50,000 greyhounds now racing at over 100 dog tracks around the world.
I have been training for months, walking the steps of Harvard Stadium and biking all over Boston to build up my endurance. My eight-day challenge will traverse four distinct climate zones (rainforest, moorland, alpine dessert and ice glacier) until the happy day when I reach the Roof of Africa!
