Board of Directors

GREY2K USA is led by a group of experienced, humane-minded Directors who are committed to protecting greyhounds and working together to end the cruelty of dog racing. Collectively, our Directors have decades of experience working with lawmakers to pass stronger animal protection laws and volunteering for greyhound adoption organizations.

Christine A. Dorchak, President and General Counsel

Christine Dorchak has extensive professional experience in the animal protection movement. Before obtaining her law degree, she worked as Research Director for the New England Anti-Vivisection Society and was the manager of the Ellen Gifford Sheltering Home for Cats in Boston. A long-distance runner all of her life, she has competed in six Boston Marathons to date. Christine enjoys spending free time with her four cats and greyhound Zoe.[Email Christine]

Jennifer Krebs, Vice President

Raised on a small farm and living with animals all of her life, Jennifer has long had a passion for animal rescue. Jennifer adopted her first greyhound in 2003, and has volunteered in many different capacities for several greyhound adoption groups, including racetrack-to-rescue transport and fostering. She and her husband have adopted five rescued greyhounds in six years, and currently share their home with three of those greyhounds, along with their rescued cat. Michael S. Trombley, CPA, Treasurer

Mike Trombley is a former Deputy Director of the New Hampshire Pari-Mutuel Commission. As an insider of the greyhound industry he witnessed the cruelty of dog racing and the lax oversight that helps sustain this dying industry. Since resigning from the commission, Mike has been involved in greyhound advocacy primarily on the legislative and regulatory fronts. [Email Mike]

Michael Trombley
Twig Mowatt, Secretary

Twig Mowatt has 20 years of experience in public relations for both the commercial and nonprofit sectors. She holds an M.B.A. from Boston College and an M.S. in journalism from the Columbia University School of Journalism. She was a journalist for ten years and covered the drug war in Colombia for The New York Times and the Associated Press. She later served as a Senior Manager for Arthur D. Little, Inc., a management consulting firm. Twig is active in various animal welfare issues. She is on the board of the Bali Animal Welfare Association and works closely with All Sato Rescue, which seeks to improve the lives of Puerto Rico's stray dogs. Rev. Tom Grey, Board Member

Reverend Tom Grey is the Field Director and spokesperson for Stop Predatory Gambling. Before becoming a minister, he served as the commander of a U.S. Army rifle company in Germany and as a military advisor to a Vietnamese infantry battalion in Vietnam. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Garrett Theological Seminary. Tom has been profiled in Time magazine, People magazine, U.S. News and World Report, The Los Angeles Times, The National Enquirer, The Chicago Tribune, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Philadelphia Inquirer, PBS's Frontline, and 60 Minutes. Charmaine Settle, Board Member

Charmaine Settle is a member of Colorado Greyhound Adoption, Greyhound Rescue International Network, and a supporter of the American European Greyhound Alliance. She helped GREY2K USA defeat Colorado's “Amendment 33” ballot initiative that would have propped up dog racing with slot machines, helped collect signatures for a ballot question to end dog racing in Massachusetts and led an effort to defeat House Bill 1095 which would have re-introduced dog racing in Colorado. She has also volunteered at the Scooby refuge in Spain working to bring adoptable greyhounds into the United States and helps coordinate dog hauls from racetracks to adoption groups across the country. Charmaine Settle

Caryn Wood, Board Member

Originally from New York City, Caryn Wood worked for more than thirty years as a legal secretary/legal assistant before retiring in 2002. Caryn has been owned by Afghan hounds and whippets since the 1970s. After learning about greyhound racing, she instantly became an anti-racing advocate and adopted her first greyhound in 1997. From that pivotal moment, Caryn has volunteered, fostered, adopted 9 more greyhounds and continues to pursue an end to dog racing. Caryn and husband Dave’s family includes four adult children and five grandchildren. The Woods live in Arizona with Spirit (pictured) and four senior female greyhounds. Karyn Zoldan, Board Member

After reading about what happened to greyhounds when they lose, Karyn Zoldan adopted her first greyhound in 1998. The plight of the racing greyhound has motivated her ever since. Karyn is a past board member for Arizona Greyhound Rescue and active supporter of Tucson Dog Protection. She is self employed as a web content writer and enjoys making and marketing bracelets for animals in need. Karyn Zoldan

Carey M. Theil, Executive Director of GREY2K USA

Since co-founding GREY2K USA with Christine Dorchak in 2001, Carey has been featured in over 200 news articles about greyhound racing, and has published guest columns about the industry in the Boston Globe, Rocky Mountain News, Providence Journal, Tallahassee Democrat, Mobile Register and Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He has extensive legislative experience, and has testified in favor of stronger greyhound protection laws before legislative committees in Massachusetts, Florida, New Hampshire and Oregon. Carey volunteers his free time for various non-profits and currently sits on the board of directors for the organization Stop Predatory Gambling. Carey is also a national chess master. [Email Carey]
