**URGENT ACTION ALERT**

Dear Friends,

On Thursday, March 5, the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission will vote on a proposal to give greyhound breeders millions of dollars for the continuation of dog racing at Dubuque Greyhound Park.

This dangerous proposal must be defeated!

The Iowa Greyhound Association is asking for millions of dollars from an escrow account the Commission controls. Please call and e-mail the Commissioners right away, and ask them to vote NO on giving the Iowa Greyhound Association funds from the "escrow account." You can reach the Commission by phone at 515-281-7352 and by e-mail at irgc@iowa.gov.

To help you make your call and write your e-mail, here are some points to consider:

• The ink is barely dry on a new law that gave the dog racing industry a $72 million bailout. It is outrageous that the Iowa Greyhound Association is already asking for millions in new subsidy dollars from the state.
  
  
• These "escrow funds" should instead be used to phase out dog racing, as part of the state dog racing cessation fund.
  
  
• The Iowa Greyhound Association tried to gain access to these funds in the last legislative session, and lawmakers rejected their proposal. The Commission should respect that decision by the legislature.

Please call the Commission right away at 515-281-7352 and ask the commissioners to vote NO on giving the Iowa Greyhound Association a bailout from the "escrow account." Then, also send them an e-mail at irgc@iowa.gov.
