Dear Friends,
The Florida legislative session has just begun, and already our greyhound decoupling bill is making progress. This Thursday, Senate Bill 382 will be debated and voted on in the Senate Regulated Industries Committee. A positive vote in this committee would be a big step forward in passing decoupling into law.
If you haven't already, please take a moment to contact both your State Representative and State Senator and ask them to support House Bill 641 and Senate Bill 382. These humane proposals will end the state mandate for greyhound racing, a mandate that has effectively become a state subsidy for this cruel activity. If these bills are approved, greyhound racing will be significantly reduced in the state. As a result, fewer dogs will suffer serious injuries and fewer dogs will endure lives of terrible confinement.
To identify the state lawmakers that represent you and find their contact information, go to www.VoteForTheDogs.org.
Also, in addition to contacting the State Representative and State Senator that represents you, please do one more thing. Please call State Representative Dorothy Hukill today, who chairs the House Economic Affairs Committee, and politely ask her to support House Bill 641. As the chair of the primary committee that will hear decoupling, Representative Hukill will have an important role in the passage or failure of greyhound decoupling, and can be reached at 850-488-6653.
Please make these phone calls right away. The greyhounds cannot speak for themselves, and are counting on us to be their voice.
Sincerely,

|
