Dear Friends,
We have great news for the greyhounds! Working with a coalition of grassroots advocates, we have launched an initiative petition in Seminole County called the Greyhound Protection Act.
This humane proposal will ensure that greyhound injuries at Sanford Orlando Kennel Club are publicly reported, require trainers to provide information on the fate of dogs that leave the track, and eliminate a special interest loophole that exempts racing greyhounds from County animal licensing and inspection laws.
The passage of this humane measure will help greyhounds, and also send a message to every dog track in the state that we will fight for reform at every level, until the cruelty of greyhound racing ends completely.
We can pass this important proposal, but the dogs need your help too! To place the Greyhound Protection Act on the November 2016 ballot, we must collect signatures from 13,300 Seminole County voters in only six months. This will be an all-volunteer campaign, and our success depends on compassionate people like you.
If you are able to volunteer to help collect signatures, even for a short period of time, contact Campaign Manager Carla Wilson. E-mail her at carla@protectdogs.org, or call 407-968-2400. You can also order a special campaign tshirt to show your support!
Let's do it for the dogs!
