Kathy expressed one last wish to us before she passed away. She asked us all to keep working to end greyhound racing and to free the dogs that she loved so much. The recent announcement that her local track in Miami will soon be ending racing made her realize that the mission of GREY2K USA Worldwide would come true, even if she would not live to see it.

Many of you knew Kathy personally because whenever there was a close vote in any racing state she would call up and ask you to lobby for the hounds. She also gave presentations in schools, hosted outreach tables, volunteered at greyhound adoption centers, marched in parades, wrote letters to the editor, met with her own lawmakers – she never stopped speaking for the dogs, even when she became very sick.

In our dear friend’s honor, we have created the Kathy Pelton Courage Award to be given to the volunteer who best emulates her steadfast determination to save the greyhounds. Additionally, the GREY2K USA Education Fund has launched the Kathy Pelton Greyhound Adoption and Education Fund. If you would like to make a tax-deductible gift in her honor, please do so now or at any time. All funds received will be donated at the end of each year to one of the groups on our referral list.

We send our heartfelt sympathy to Kathy’s beloved husband Ken, to her daughter Lee and to her precious grandchildren. Thank you for sharing her with us for so many years.
