Hundreds of greyhound adoption groups have formed across the world to find homes for dogs discarded by the racing industry. As part of our continuing series, today we would like to spotlight the wonderful work of Amigos de Milord
Recently, I was contacted by Christina Garcia, the founder of Amigos de Milord, and organization that rescues abused and abandoned animals in Spain and adopts them out internationally. She wrote:
I write from the small Spanish non-profit organisation Amigos de Milord. Our work is especially with Galgos and we need economical support for sterlisations, vaccinations, blood analyses, medical treatment of the Greyhounds and Boarding kennels. Can you help us?
Christina's organization works every day, saving the lives of dogs like Lia and Mary Jane who are now available for adoption. Greta is a galga who has already found a happy home in Barcelona, Rubi is in Germany and Romeo in France.
Frans was thrown from a car. Christina and her volunteers took her in, got her the immediate medical care she needed then found a loving home for her. Read Frans' story here. All of these dogs started out desperate, abandoned and without hope until Amigos came to the rescue.
