Today, we bring you the great news that the Macon County Greyhound Park in Shorter, Alabama
has announced that it will end live racing as of June 1! Read the story here.

Live racing has been conducted continuously at the facility, now operating as VictoryLand, since
September 1984. Citing “economic difficulties,” the track has decided to suspend this cruel
activity.
In recent months, VictoryLand has been the subject of intense criminal investigation. Its owner
Milton McGregor now faces multiple federal charges of bribery surrounding his alleged attempt
to buy votes for a gambling bill.
Today’s announcement is a true victory for the greyhounds! To learn more about our continuing
campaign to end dog racing in the state, go here.

Reminder: During the month of May, you can generate a gift for the greyhounds by buying
a handmade bracelet from the Beading Divas of Tucson. Every bracelet is one-of-a-kind,
uniquely beaded and comes with its own paw print charm!
Bracelets are just $20 plus shipping and handling. All proceeds benefit the GREY2K USA
Education Fund’s efforts to research and document the cruelty of dog racing through video
investigations, reports and more. Click here to read more.
Finally, please join the GREY2K USA board of directors for a 3-course dinner, specialty
auction and awards ceremony in June. This year, we will gather at the C.O.D. Ranch in Oracle,
Arizona, a rustic retreat high above the hills of Tucson. Seating is limited, so make your
reservations now. Dinner guests are also invited to stay the night at a
discounted “greyhound advocates” rate.
See you there!
