Dear Friends,
A bill to help greyhounds is advancing in the Arizona legislature, and now we need your help to push it over the finish line!
Senate Bill 1146, as amended, will require that dog track injuries once again be reported to the public. Also, it will increase the maximum fines and suspensions for dog track rule violations.
This bill has already passed in both the Senate and the House of Representatives. However, because it was amended by the House it must now return to the Senate for a final "concurrence" vote. Please lend your voice to help the greyhounds.
Please e-mail your State Senator right away, say that you are a constituent and ask him or her to vote for "concurrence" on SB 1146. Be sure to include your name and address so that the Senator will know you live in his or her district. Tell your Senator that the public has a right to know how many injuries are occurring at these racing facilities, and that is why SB 1146 is so important. Additionally, increased penalties will serve as a strong deterrent for those who would harm greyhounds, something that is definitely needed at this time.
When greyhound injuries were made available to the public in the past, they told the sad story of hundreds of dogs that were hurt. Between 2007 and 2009, more than nine hundred injuries were reported at Arizona dog tracks, and 67 dogs died or were euthanized. But for several years now, this information has been hidden from public view. The passage of SB 1146 will change this.
Please contact your State Senator on behalf of the greyhounds now.
**Please note that this bill is being debated in the Arizona State Legislature in Phoenix, not in Congress**
This vote could happen very soon, so send your e-mail right away!
Sincerely,

Christine A. Dorchak, Esq.
