Hundreds of greyhound adoption groups have sprung up across the world to find homes for dogs that have been saved from the racing industry. In honor of Greyhound Adoption Month, we would like to spotlight the wonderful work of Pennsylvania’s Greytful Hearts Greyhound Rescue.Dear Friends,
Formed in 2010, Greytful Hearts Greyhound Rescue works to place needy greyhounds into permanent loving homes. The group was formed in memory Flo, a rescued greyhound whose gentle spirit “opened their minds, hearts and homes to all the hounds who would follow.” Since there are no tracks in Pennsylvania, Greytful Hearts has been able to bring dogs from the six remaining racing states into its foster network. Founder Paula Althouse places an emphasis on special needs and older greyhounds, in particular.
The most common trait of lurchers is their great love of people! Many of the dogs we help have had a bad start and lived their entire lives outside. Despite this, we find them to be affectionate, loyal, obedient, and social, as most have lived with other dogs. They are deeply appreciative of finding a home where they can live inside and be loved.
On April 23, the GREY2K USA Education Fund will proudly sponsor Greytful Hearts’ first Benefit Walk in Leesport, PA. Please join us by sending a donation through PayPal to email@example.com and if you are interested in adopting, please apply today!
Happy Greyhound Adoption Month to all!
