Greyhounds Win Again!
Dear Friends:
Today is a historic day for the greyhounds! A few hours ago, the New Hampshire House of Representatives overwhelmingly voted to make dog racing illegal, by a vote of 245 to 113.
The Greyhound Protection Act (HB 630) will now go to the State Senate, which will debate it in the coming weeks.
This is truly a historic victory, and is due to the hard work of many people who have fought for New Hampshire’s greyhounds over the past decade.
However, this victory was far from easy. Dog track lobbyists fought very hard to defeat the Greyhound Protection Act today, and falsely claimed that it would impact other unrelated issues. But at the end of the day, common sense and compassion prevailed.
While we are confident that the State Senate will also vote YES for the dogs, we can not take any vote for granted. We are expecting the Senate debate to be our hardest fight yet, and will need the help of everyone in the Granite State who cares about dogs.
So celebrate this historic victory, and forward this e-mail to everyone you know.
Then get ready for a tough fight. Together, we will ensure that the Greyhound Protection Act becomes law and that dog racing ends in New Hampshire forever!
For the greyhounds,

Christine Dorchak and Carey Theil
