Help us pass a bill to protect greyhounds

** Urgent please send to all New Hampshire animal advocates and crosspost **

Dear Friends,

New legislation has been filed in New Hampshire to help the greyhounds!

NH rallyAs you know, live greyhound racing was outlawed in New Hampshire in 2010. However, local gamblers are still able to bet remotely on live dog races occurring at some of the worst tracks in other states (an activity called simulcasting). These tracks, including Sanford Orlando Kennel Club in Florida, have low standards and do not even report greyhound racing injuries to the public. House Bill 564 will change the state's racing law to ensure that New Hampshire racetracks only accept greyhound simulcast signals from states that publicly report greyhound injuries.

Our research shows that more dogs are made available for adoption and there is more attention to protecting greyhounds when tracks are required to account for them through injury and other records. For example, six years after an injury reporting law passed in Massachusetts, the number of greyhounds euthanized had declined by 88%!

Here's how to help:

Please take a moment to contact both your State Representative(s) and State Senator and ask them to support HB564 (Please note that you need to call your State Legislators, not U.S. Legislators).

Please refer to our bill fact sheet for talking points and speak up for the greyhounds today!
