Instead of one state racing commission, each track is regulated by its own county commission. The Mobile County Racing Commission and the Birmingham Racing Commission have their own set of racing rules. IIn 2013, a total of $14,795,278 was wagered on live greyhound races in the state.3 In 2014, the amount wagered on races at Mobile was $5,628,799.60, a 19% decline from the previous year.4 Data from the Birmingham track for 2014 is not yet available.
